Who Is Your Healer Part – Four

-A word about Doctors and the Dead Arising

Philippians 4:8

Philippians 4:8 is a very important scripture that we need to learn to incorporate into our everyday lives and the way that we speak (and write). In this scripture the Apostle Paul teaches us by saying; “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy–meditate on these things.” (NKJV)

It is very important that we think and meditate on praiseworthy things. The word used in Philippians 4:8 for praiseworthy is from the Strongs Greek Concordance reference #1909 is the Greek word epainos which can mean laudation; or a commendable thing:–praise.

Allow me to say that the subsequent part of this article does not meet these requirements entirely. However, that does not mean that what I write is not true. It is possible that some may consider them noble, but atlas they are just my opinion and not scripture. This next section is just my estimation and may not be entirely with biblical merit.

However, allow me to say that I may indeed be venting at some apparent injustices that I have faced concerning the medical profession (or perhaps other peeps too). That is certainly true and there may be many who read this that may feel as I do. Let me say that one theme in these series of articles is doctors and badges. So bear with my ranting and venting as I thread this theme into the things that I write. The doctor in the next section is a wonderful Spirit filled person who loves God, many doctors love God. That is a very good thing. Please consider what I have just written as you read the next few sections of the article.

A Word About Doctors

At this juncture, I would like to take a moment to address the subject of medical doctors. As I have written perhaps I may have inadvertently offended a doctor or two (thousand). I ask for you to forgive those seemly harsh words at this time. There have been some folks who may think that I am totally opposed to the medical profession. I am not. That idea is not true. I believe in doctors (especially since I turned sixty). Doctors are certainly needful. But allow me to say again that doctors are not healers (as I stated in part one of this article).

In the coming testimony of raising the dead there was a medical doctor ministering with me as my interpreter. Doctor W confirmed the miracle of the dead being raised. I should point out the doctor was NOT wearing a badge at the meeting that day. However, Doctor Wwas required to wear a badge at the hospital that he worked at in Mwanza, Tanzania.

I do believe in the work of doctors (I do not consider their work a ministry). Medical doctors are not healers. However, they do provide a service for most of us regular folks. Medical doctors are charged with offering (for the most part) common sense advice to people who are ailing. Doctors also have the Governmental authority to prescribe medications that can be both helpful and needful for infirmed peeps. If you can benefit from a medication by all means take it (after praying over it), unless the pharmacological company that is manufacturing said medication is practicing unethical price gouging for the said meds.

The Person in Front of You

Recently I visited a medical doctor to seek help for my elevated blood pressure [it was at stroke level – according to prevailing wisdom]. The doctor I visited (who had a badge) was able to prescribe blood pressure medication to help reduce my blood pressure. But I must say that he seemed very robotic, and was not cordial at all. I would have given him a poor google rating, but I try to stay away from google or bing (especially with the new ChatGPT; which could be a form of the antichrist). I can understand that as the doctor most likely sees a lot of complaining people daily.  I would encourage you (if you happen to be a medical doctor and read this) to develop more compassion and make a concerted effort to have a cordial “bedside manner” with ugly, long-haired, uneducated folks like me. (That last part was sarcasm).

Surely the person in front of you needs your services. (Yes, we do know that you went to college for most of your life to get your badge and position). So just be nice and for heaven’s sake  and have a little compassion. Don’t rub your position in. The robotic approach is not very ingratiating to your patients. Please remember that most patients pay through the nose to sit in your presence for just twenty minutes to hear you spout off common sense (most of the time).  Although, I know that for some medical doctors it is all about the money and the kickbacks from referrals and the number or prescriptions that they write each month. (Please notice I did not say all).  Also, please remember not to wear your badge to bed at night.

The bottom line is that if you can benefit from seeing a medical doctor with a badge, please do so. Remember that you can arrange to make payments for their services that will fit within your budget (even if you have insurance). I am not going to start on that touchy subject. Now let’s get back to a modern-day testimony of raising the dead. Many medical doctors are very good people.

A Modern-Day Testimony of Raising the Dead

The dust swirled in a tiny dirt devil in the gravel driveway of the bishop’s home. It was very hot African day and sweat dripped off of my nose burning my eyes. I had a premonition and was peeking out of the window that was draped in a thin sky-blue curtain. The road was just beyond the wall and the security of the barking dogs. Suddenly, the glass in the window exploded with a loud crash. Despite the bars and the metal netting in the window I felt defiled. Someone had thrown a rock into the window!

I was in the bishop’s home and in the guest bedroom. Glass shards flew into my suitcase that was laying on the bed. I had partially packed my belongings and I had planned to leave Africa the next day. I had made up “my mind” that I was never going to return to Tanzania. Period. It seems that God had other ideas as I returned an additional fifteen trips after this incident.

I felt as if I had been betrayed by the denominational church. The elders had come to the bishops house a few days before to serve me with a ‘subpoena’. They had gotten together to prosecute  and bring a court case against the ministry for more pay or porshos (the Swahili term for a free blessing).  Even though the men who had started the ‘subpoena’ were “volunteer guards and matrons” helping the widows and orphans in the new Mount Zion Children’s home. It was also during this trip that the lead pastor had attempted to ‘sell’ the children’s home to Russian pilots who flew out tilapia fish from Lake Victoria to the Soviet Union every other day. I had had it. I was in the flesh and I was ‘fed up’. I had decided to just leave!

It is funny how the Lord can change your mind “suddenly”, and that is what happened to me. I had purposed in my heart to just get on the airplane and to fly back to American and never return to the work in Tanzania.

Long Ago in A Galaxy (Place) Far Far Away (Removed)

When Kathy and I lived in Kansas City I had a lot of time to invest in the “temple model” of prayer. I had seen the dead being raised in a visionary experience whilst in my prayer room at 11200 Kensington Avenue, in Kansas City. I saw a little girl arise from the dead. So, from that day and experience in 2005 I was certain that I would see a little girl raise from the dead in one of the meetings that I would conduct. I know that it would be a sovereign miracle and I also knew that it would be a small girl or toddler that God would heal of death (raise from the dead).

Onward (Back to Africa)

The time slowly ticked by as I prepared my “preach suit” for the final day of the crusade in Kessia, Tanzania. This was to be the last of a four day meeting. By God’s grace we had seen hundreds receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. There had been a lot of notable miracles. Dr. W had volunteered to be my interpreter at the crusade. He spoke very good English and had been educated abroad. The good doctor was hoping to witness a “real” miracle.  Yet, in spite of the salvations and the various miracles I was ready to leave the nation of Tanzania.

I had purposed in my heart to never return there. I was really appalled that the local pastor had stolen the land and the orphanage that we had built in Llelemula. I would later become even more flabbergasted when this same pastor “evicted” the orphaned children. The orphans had been told that Momma Kathy and Kevin did NOT care for them or love them anymore. They were given just a few minutes to gather their meager belongings and were summarily turned out into the street as it was turning dark. (That must have been terrifying).

I guess in a way they were orphaned a second time. This had occurred a couple of months after several of the “elders” of the Llelemula church leaders had shown up at the bishops house near the Bugundo Medical Center in Mwanza, Tanzania to “serve me legal papers”. Those legal papers showed they intended to bring a law suite against the ministry and me personally to garner more money for their volunteer work.

On that day they had shown up and demanded to see the “mhubili thekure Nmareekani” (white American preacher).  The elders had thrust a legal papers document into the hand of my associate who promptly tore it in half, threw it upon the ground, and then proceeded to spit on it. Through an interpreter he had told the elders present that day; “Go ahead and sue us”! The interesting thing was that his flight left that day and mine was scheduled to fly out about three day later. His flight left a bit later that day and I was left with a religious mess to clean up. It was during this time that I was stoned through the window at the bishop’s house near Bugundo Medical Center. Talk about gratitude! The bishop has gone on to receive his heavenly reward as of this writing.

In hind sight, God had other plans and my flight left the country of Tanzania for Amsterdam on time. And as it turned out I had to return to Tanzania in a few months to “re-rescue” the twenty-six orphans that were evicted from the children’s home in Llemelua. I was told at that time that they were only given a little time to gather their belongings to leave just as the sunset. The children were not even allowed to take their Swahili Bibles (which the ministry had given to each child) with them. These were later sold by the host pastor (I discovered at a later date). The good news is that the orphans that were evicted were found and we were able to place them in new children’s homes on the grounds of Living Waters Fellowship in Llemelua. Businessmen On Bicycles

In those days we had a method to “advertise” our crusade meetings in the bush. We would hire businessmen who owned bicycles. These fine folks on the bikes would drive out into the “bush” and declare our message through battery powered bullhorns. I wrote these messages. That crusade I had written this: “Come and see the mhubili thekure Nmareekani. His God is all powerful. His God can heal the sick. His God can open up the eyes of the blind. His God can open up the ears of the deaf. God forbid that anyone should die, but his God can even raise the dead. If anyone dies bring them to the meetings in Kessia”! You see, the people worship a lot of different gods in Tanzania.

We usually set up a tent for the dead. There we would pray for the dead to be raised on many occasions. Although, there were several times when people brought dead people to our crusade meetings over the years we did not see anyone raised from the dead in the tents. But I am still believing for those kinds of the gift of miracles to happen even today through out the world. Just make a place for this ministry (raising the dead) to happen!

The Sovereignty of God

In our home on the lake in Kansas City I had established a dedicated prayer room. I would not allow anyone in there except for me and the Holy Spirit to enter into my prayer room for about four years. Usually, I would pray there from two to ten hours per day. Once just before we had sold the house and were about to move to Moravian Falls, North Carolina a friend had asked to enter my KC prayer room. When he did he fell out under the power of the Spirit. By the way, this was the same person who had torn the legal papers in half, threw them upon the ground, and then proceeded to spit on the papers there on the cement of the bishop’s house foyer! He did not have a badge.

It was there in my prayer room by the lake in Kansas City that the Lord had revealed to me that I would see a small girl raised from the dead in one of our crusade meetings. So in a way I was expecting to see this gift of miracles happen in the future (it was a few months later that the little girl was indeed raised from the dead).

So, I had prayed a lot and pondered this approaching miracle in my heart. How was the Lord going to allow me to witness this gift of miracles happen; How was I going to see God raise the dead? Perhaps it would be a vision? Perhaps I would experience a vision of how it would unfold before I saw the girl raised from the dead? Perhaps it would be revelation given by the Spirit through the gift of the word of knowledge? Although, I was unsure of how it would happen I firmly believed that I would see the dead raised. I knew that it would a small girl too. So, I was always looking for this particular miracle. By the way, once you are used by the Lord to participate in a particular kind of miracle you can always trust God to work that type of miracle through you again.

I had no way of knowing that the Lord would use me in this miracle of raising the dead when I least expected it or had less than zero “faith” for it. So what transpired next was a shock to me and to the bishop and to my interpreter Doctor W (the good doctor was NOT wearing a badge that afternoon).

Arise Little Girl

Ok, so back to the testimony of raising the dead. The sweat was pouring off of my body as I prepared for the crusade. Shards of glass from the broken window were covering my suitcase. My eyes were stinging from the sweat and I should have been praying and preparing for the final crusade meeting. But no. I was way over in the flesh, I was hot and mad. I was ready to leave Tanzania and never return. Slowly, I repacked my suitcase removing the glass as best as I could. My “preach” suit was laid out and ready for me to put on. I decided to take a shower first. So I stepped from the room (over the glass on the floor) and went into the bathroom. I turned on the shower and there was no water. So I would have to preach this final meeting with a lot of body odor on me! Poor stinky me. I was really odoriferous (I just wanted to use that word). Great. I had had it and I was fed up. But God was not, and He never is!

I was just thinking what else can go wrong. There was a rap on the door and bishop told me we would be about half an hour late leaving for the crusade. The bishop also asked for 100,000 Tanzania Shillings for gas. He still had to get gas! I was frustrated, I was stinky, and I was hot (in more ways that one). Finally, I heard the truck arrive and the bishop rapped again on my door and told me that it was time to leave. I remember preaching with a bogus vim and vigor from the platform that last day. The skies seemed to darken and it was threatening to rain, so I had to speed up the message! By the way, rain on an altar call in Tanzania and Uganda is not uncommon. Some people believe that witchcraft is responsible for these kinds of rain’s timing. That is true.

I preached from 1Cornthians 1:18 as I made an altar call; For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. I told the people that we were about to see the power of God! The word for power in this scripture is Greek word Dunimas. Dunimas is translated as “miracle working power”. Suddenly the air was literally electric. Dr. W was working alongside of me with grace and passion as he translated my words from English into Swahili. When I called for those who wanted to receive Jesus as Savior to come to the altar about twelve hundred or so hungry people came forward to pray the prayer of salvation (sinners’ prayer)! There were about five to seven thousand people in attendance that day.

I believe that about 1000 to 1200 were born from “above” that day! To God be the glory! It began to spit drops of cold rain. I knew that I needed to speed up the process! We were filming the altar call and as I finished the prayer of salvation, I repeated this statement; For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. I told the people that: “Many people are bring saved! We were about to see the power of God! People are being saved and God was about to release His miraculous power…NOW”!

The Power of God

The second I said the word ‘NOW’ there was a flash of lightening that seemed to hit the altar and there sounded an instantaneous clap of thunder. I heard a loud scream when I  saw the lightening hit the people at the foot of the altar! I began to call out words of knowledge for miracles and healings. “Tumors are dissolving”, “Blind eyes are opening”, “I tell you anything is possible in this atmosphere if you can just believe to receive”. There were hundreds of sovereign miracles and healings released from the Kingdom of Heaven in just a few minutes.

Moto Isaya

Moto Isaya is a young orphan that I had asked to help with the ministry. We had sent him to tutors to learn to speak “good” English. Moto was there at the healing with the crusade that day in Kissia. We would have the people who were sovereignly healed come up on the platform to give their testimony. Moto’s job was to vet, check, or interview the people who had received the miracles and to only allow the “big” miracles on the stage for testimonies (sounds a bit hard now, because all miracles are big miracles).

Me? I was just ready to get this meeting over with. I just wanted to get into the truck an go back to the bishops house to eat, then sleep, (shower, if possible), and catch my flight for Amsterdam the next day. Remember I had had it with Tanzania and I was just “going through the motions”. That is until Moto got my attention. We saw a lot of tumors dissolve, and there were many deaf ears that opened, and even blind eyes were healed under the atmosphere of 1Cornthians 1:18. Indeed, the power of God was tangibly present to heal! (Some peeps call this the glory or the anointing of the Holy Spirit).

Moto would bring the healed up on the left and I would interview them with the help of Dr. W. Then the ushers would move them off of the platform on the right. After each miracle I would address the burgeoning crown (you see a lot of people came to witness the miracles). I would ask the person healed of the tumor or deafness or blindness to “Say Thank You Jesus”!  But I was just going through the motions, and I really just wanted to be gone back to America! I just wanted the African experience to be over!

Finally, one woman (about twenty) came up on the platform who was casually holding a little girl on her hip. I asked “What did Jesus to for you”. Moto had already told me that she was healed of a “tumor about the size of a mango”. Where is the tumor I asked, and she said that it was gone! “Can you say Thank You Jesus, and give God the glory?” Then I asked another usher to take her off the platform on the right side. But Moto, grabbed my preach jacket sleeve and began to shake me violently. I looked into Moto’s eyes and saw that something very important was happening.

“What is it” I asked off of the microphone? Moto said, “You have missed the biggest miracle of all”. Then Moto said “ask her about the little girl”.  So, I had the ushers to bring the young woman back and I asked her about the child. Here is her testimony. It changed my life and how I look at the healing ministry.

The Bush

The woman began to give this testimony (which we recorded on video). Dr. W began to interpret her words for me into English from Swahili too. The woman with the small toddler girl on her hip said; “I live way out in the bush bush (meaning in the most remote area). It was a two day walk to get to this place to see the mhubili thekure Nmareekani (white American preacher). It is true what the mhubili thekure Nmareekani was telling all of you! Jesus is the healer. Jesus truly gives us miracles! You see my daughter was dead. She had very bad malaria and died two days ago. I was heartbroken and weeping, but then I heard the man on the bicycle in my village saying that the God of the mhubili thekure Nmareekani (Jesus) can even raise the dead.

“The man on the bicycle said ‘God forbid that anyone should die, but if someone dies bring them to the meetings in Kissia! Because the God Jesus can even raise the dead’. I stopped crying and I said to myself if I can get to where the white American preacher is then God Himself will raise my daughter from the dead. She was dead from the malaria. She was truly dead and I was heartbroken. I was beside myself, but I started to walk right then. I did not have any water. I did not have any food, so I just started walking. I did not have any money. I am a poor widow.  I walked for two days and I got here just as the mhubili thekure Nmareekani said that Jesus saves and that we were going to see the power of God”.

“I was standing at the place with the others who prayed for Jesus to be their God. Then I heard thunder and a lightening bolt hit me in the top of my head. It was then that I realized that my tumor was gone! The tumor was very – very big, and it just went away. Suddenly, my daughter jerked in my arms and began to cry! She came back to life! Jesus really can raise the dead! My daughter is now alive, and I am saved and I will be going to a church when I get back to my hutch. I want to know about this Jesus God more. Friends, believe what this white man says to you for it is really truth! Jesus is God and He can really raise the dead! My daughter is now alive!”

Out of Africa

As we rode in the truck to return to the bishop’s home after this last crusade meeting, I began to weep privately. I asked the driver to stop on the side of the road. I asked the bishop and doctor W to step out and to speak to me privately. I asked them if I really just witnessed the dead being raised there at the altar. Of course, the woman also had a tumor the size of a grapefruit miraculously disappear too. It was then that Dr. W assured me that he had taken time to find the young woman and her little girl that gave the testimony.  Dr. W wanted to confirm that the girl was raised from the dead. The doctor told me that he had talked to the woman extensively to confirm the miracle.

Doctor W told me that he had asked her very carefully (three different times) to repeat her testimony. In fact, the good doctor (who was not wearing a badge that day) told me that he was certain that her testimony was that God had raised her deceased child from the dead at the altar. He went on to tell me that this was one reason that he had wanted to be my interpreter at the meetings.

Doctor W wanted to personally witness healings and miracles to “prove” his faith. He wanted to have 100% confirmation that Jesus is truly a healer! Doctor W said that he got his proof. He said that he was given a great answer to his prayer and that God had given him confirmation of His power to heal. Dr W said that he would never doubt that God (Jesus Christ) was a healing God. The good doctor also told me that he would be praying for the sick in his practice from that day forward.

Repenting is Good for the Heart

When we arrived at the bishop’s home, I ran into the glass filled bedroom and began to repent. Right there I began to weep and repent for my callous heart! It seemed that God did not need me to raise the dead. God did not need my faith. God does not need my gifting, nor does He need yours either. However, in His sovereignty he allowed me to be a part to the gift of miracles for raising the dead just as He had promised in 2005. I hope you will see this gift of miracles in action too.

I repented for the hardness of my heart. I began to weep and to pray. In fact, I prayed for most of the night and even up to the time I was to travel to Mwanza international Airport. I wept and prayed all the way to Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam. At 12:08am I boarded a KLM flight for Schiphol International Airport in Amsterdam, Holland.During this whole trip I wept and repented to the Lord for my hardness of heart and my callousness until I reached Kansas City.

Needless to say, I miraculously returned to Mwanza to re-rescue the twenty-six orphans that were evicted from the Mount Zion Home. God supernaturally provided a great financial miracle that allowed me to take that trip and to find all of the evicted orphans. By God’s grace, they were all placed in safe children’s homes on the grounds of Living Waters Ministries there in LLemelua, (a suburb of Mwanza, Tanzania). That was eighteen years ago as of this writing.

Seeing is Believing

When I arrived at the bishops home after this miracle and the long truck drive there I wept and I began to review the video footage of the miracle of the little girl being raised from the dead. The video confirmed the young woman’s testimony. I saw the flash of lightening and head the simultaneous crack of thunder as I said, “God was about to release His miraculous power…NOW”! On the footage you can hear the scream of the woman when the lightening struck. I reviewed her testimony and was flabbergasted at my cavalier attitude! Lord forgive me!

Having said all of this. Allow me to say that day was the one only time that I have witnessed the gift of miracle(s) in action for the raising of the dead. But I know that I know that I KNOW, God still raises the dead. The Lord will start to raise the dead in many nations. We will see this gift of miracle(s) in action for the raising of the dead in American and in Canada. We will see this gift of miracle(s) in action for the raising of the dead in action in the coming months throughout the whole earth. God will raise the dead on many nations, not just third world nations.

Allow me to encourage you to just believe to receive.

In the next article in this series we will continue to look at more modern day testimonies of the gifts of miracles and healings. We will also continue our in dept look at the gifts of miracles and healings from the ministry of Jesus as He released miracles through the healing word to heal paralytics, and lepers. God is alive and He wants to work the greatest miracle of all in your heart!

If you do not know Jesus Christ  as Lord and Savior just pray the prayer in the next paragraph.

Prayer of Salvation

Father God, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior. I believe that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God and that He died upon the Cross to make payment for my sins. I believe that Jesus was buried in an unused grave, but that after three days He rose again (came back to life or were resurrected) and conquered death and sin. Lord, because I was born a human being, I was born a sinner. Lord, I ask you to forgive my sins now, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. God, cover my sins with the atoning Blood of Jesus and forgive me now. Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner. Right now, I confess my sins, and ask for Your forgiveness. Lord I am asking to be born from above. I believe that You shed your Blood to make payment for my sins. Lord, I believe in my spirit and in my heart that You are the Son of God and that You arose from the dead after three days. Lord forgive my sins now.  Please come into my heart as my Lord and Savior. From now on, Lord, I will live my life for You alone I give You my life. Help me to walk in Your Kingdom and in the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank You, Lord, for saving me and for answering my prayer today! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
