A lot of folks today are running around with a ‘chicken little’ mindset. They are scampering around like a frightened chicken with its head decapitated. You may remember the fable about Chicken Little? In this tale the main character is hit on the head by a mysterious object. Immediately, Chicken Little is overcome by the spirit of fear, anxiety, and panic. This leads to a marvelous, unprecedented, and incorrect revelation.
Chicken Little, motivated by these two unrealistic emotions unwittingly assumes the end of the world as he knows it is at hand and that it is his duty to alert the others in his sphere of influence. So he decided to immediately run to the King with his revelation that the sky is falling.
Along the way Chicken Little crosses paths with Henny Penny, Ducky Daddles, Goosey Loosey, and Turkey Lurkey. He tells them that he has this important message of doom and gloom; the sky is falling. When asked how he knows this Chicken Little replies “I saw it, (the sky falling), with my eyes, I heard it with my ears, and a bit of it fell on my head”.
This group of fanatics then forges recklessly ahead to alert the King. Shortly, they are met by one Foxy Loxy. This deceiver begins to lead this misguided and anxiety ridden group to their doom. In the end Divine providence intervenes and Chicken Little, Henny Penny, Ducky Daddles, Goosey Loosey, and Turkey Lurkey are saved from becoming Foxy Loxy’s next meal. (1Peter 5:8).
There are a lot of people like Chicken Little, Henny Penny, Ducky Daddles, Goosey Loosey, and Turkey Lurkey running around today. They are moved with fear, anxiety, doubt and unbelief by extreme revelations. Many immature people are allowing a spirit of fear and anxiety to rule their lives and to rob them of their peace as they listen to every sort of ‘the sky is falling’ prophetic word that comes down the electronic pike.
There is an old axiom that says; ‘If you don’t stand for something, then you will fall for anything’. We need to stand today. We need to stand firm on the Word of God and His promises. Yes, there may be some storms on the horizon, but that does not mean that the sky is falling!
Established on the Rock
I believe that it is a time for us to mature and to grow up in our walk with Christ. Ephesians 4: 14,15 encourages us; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting (Armageddon prophetic words; doomsday news stories) but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ.
We need to establish who we are firmly upon God’s Word and who we are ‘in Christ’. The ‘spin doctors’ of the media world will continue to ‘whip-up’ and manufacture one crisis after another. If you invest you time watching those TV news casts, and reading every prophetic word of damnation on the internet you may begin to end up like Chicken Little. You can become moved and motivated more by fear and anxiety than by God’s Word and Spirit.
There is a wonderful promise found in Isaiah 23:6 which promises us this; God will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. (NKJV). The promise is that as we focus our spirits, and souls, (mind, will, and emotions), upon the Messiah the Lord will keep us in perfect or double peace. That is God’s shalom. It means physical health, mental health, emotional health and financial prosperity. That is where God wants to keep us, in His perfect peace and shalom!
Choose to trust and focus upon the Lord in these challenging times! Though the world may stumble this can be your most fruitful and successful season in all aspects of your life. Let us stand fast and strong on the Cornerstone and the foundation of our faith in God, Jesus Christ our Savior and Redeemer.
The end of the World
Let us trust in the Father and remember that; By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. (Psalm 33:6). Remember that the Father created the heavens and the earth along with everything that is in them and He is not going to let the sky fall upon your head.
Focus your minds upon the Messiah and forbid the spirit of fear, anxiety, and panic that is so prevalent in the world to influence you. Walk and think maturely and test prophesies, revelations, and news that illicit a fearful response. Remember the Lord leads us by faith, but the deceiver pushes us with fear. Recognize these ungodly emotions and mindsets and being them into captivity immediately. (2Cornthians 10:5).
Any news story or prophetic revelation that produces fear, anxiety, and panic in your spirit should be questioned immediately. Stop, drop, and roll when this happens. Stop your mind from running away with fearful thoughts. Drop to your knees and pray to the Lord, and then let the promises of God’s Word roll off of your tongue! Begin to confess that you are going to prosper and be in health in all things! (Isaiah 26:3 Psalm 91,3John 1:2, Philippians 4:13, 19).
Chicken Little believed that the end of the world as he knew it was at hand. After all he saw it, (the sky falling), with his eyes, he heard it with his ears, and a bit of it fell on his head. Let me to encourage you to be careful with what you see with your eyes, hear with your ears and what you allow to fall into your spirit! Enforce your boundaries, and keep your eyes focused upon the Lord. Remember the promise of Isaiah 23:6 which promises us this; God will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. (NKJV).
Seek to transform your mind into a Christ like mind. Seek to have your mindset focused like a laser beam upon the Author and Finisher of your faith! Renew your mind! Romans 12:2 encourages us ; Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. The next verse encourages us to ‘think soberly’.
That is the season that we are in right now. Stays focused upon the Lord and renew your mind by reading Gods Word. Decree God’s Word over your life and circumstances. Meditate upon Gods word daily. As you do this you will transform your mind. We need a Christ like mindset more than ever before, not a Chicken Little mind set. So think soberly today!
